The deal is worth $15.5 million, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. It also contains $250,000 worth of performance bonuses annually.
May, 31, became a critical member of the Minnesota Twins' bullpen after missing all of 2017 recovering from Tommy John surgery. Since returning in 2018, he's crafted a 3.19 ERA (140 ERA+), 3.56 FIP, and 1.08 WHIP with 12.2 strikeouts per nine innings and just 17 home runs allowed.
He appeared in 24 games for Minnesota last season, posting a 3.86 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 14.7 strikeouts per nine and two saves.
Trevor May's pitch usage completely changed last year. He stopped throwing curve and heavily emphasized slider. This is on trend with an analytics-based approach used by MIN, NYY, TB, others -- relievers identify, develop and throw a lot of one plus breaking ball.

May will slot nicely into a Mets bullpen that was among the poorer relief units in baseball last year. He could serve as a key arm in the mid-to-late innings alongside Dellin Betances, Brad Brach, and Edwin Diaz. New York added right-handers Jacob Barnes and Nick Tropeano via waivers earlier this winter.
May represents the team's first major addition under new owner Steve Cohen, who purchased the team in November.
