Indians' Hill undergoes wrist surgery after traffic accident
Cleveland Indians reliever Cam Hill underwent right wrist surgery Monday night following his involvement in a traffic accident in Tulsa, Oklahoma, according to a team statement obtained by Mandy Bell of MLB.com.
Hill is now "resting comfortably" in hospital, according to the Indians. The team did not provide a timeline for his return or details about the accident.
The 26-year-old righty shared photos of what appeared to be his wrecked vehicle in an Instagram post Tuesday, writing that he felt "very blessed to only bang up my wrist" in the accident. He added that no one else involved was seriously hurt.
Hill made his major-league debut this past summer. He spent the entire season in Cleveland's bullpen, posting a 4.91 ERA and 0.87 WHIP with 16 strikeouts and one save across 18 regular-season outings. The former 17th-round draft pick also made one appearance in the playoffs.
