After beating the New York Yankees in the decisive Game 5 of the American League Division Series, the Rays celebrated at Petco Park by blasting the song Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. It wasn't only about who they beat, though.
Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi went live on Instagram to troll the Houston Astros - their next opponent in the American League Championship Series - by banging on a garbage can during the celebrations. An offseason investigation by Major League Baseball found evidence that the Astros stole signs during the 2017 and 2018 seasons and banged on trash cans to relay pitch information to hitters.
The Rays and Astros begin their best-of-seven ALCS matchup on Sunday at Petco Park with Tampa Bay acting as the home team. The Rays were ousted by the Astros in the ALDS round last year, losing in five games.
