Giants-Padres postponed after positive COVID-19 test in SF's organization
Friday's game between the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres at Petco Park has been postponed after a positive COVID-19 test in the Giants organization, it was announced by both teams.
Saturday's game between the teams has also been postponed to allow for additional testing and contact tracing, the Padres announced.
An unidentified Giants player tested positive, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Because contact tracing had not yet been done, MLB decided to postpone Friday's game as a precaution, Acee reports.
The Giants and Padres were out on the field for national anthems. However, moments before first pitch, the umpires went inside to their clubhouse after talking to both teams, according to Acee.
On Friday morning, MLB had announced there were zero positive tests during the previous seven-day period.
