Dodgers call up prized prospect Gavin Lux
The Los Angeles Dodgers called up infield prospect Gavin Lux from the club's alternate training site on Saturday, the team announced.
Lux is the No. 2 prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
The 22-year-old appeared in Thursday's game against the San Francisco Giants as the 29th man on the Dodgers' roster for a doubleheader. He went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.
Lux, who is expected to be the starting second baseman of the future for the Dodgers, was surprisingly optioned to the team's alternate training site at the beginning of the season's July restart.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team didn't feel like Lux was ready to open the season on the big-league roster after the Wisconsin native arrived late to summer camp due to undisclosed reasons.
Lux hit .240/.305/.400 with two home runs and nine RBIs during a 23-game stint with the Dodgers in 2019.
