Report: Price will give $1K to each minor leaguer in Dodgers' system
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander David Price will give $1,000 to every minor leaguer who isn't on the team's 40-man roster in June, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN, who corroborated an earlier report from MLB journalist Francys Romero.
There are over 200 players in the Dodgers' minor-league system.
Price, a 12-year veteran, has yet to play a single game for Los Angeles after coming over in an offseason trade from the Boston Red Sox.
The reported gesture comes at a time when MLB clubs are releasing hundreds of minor leaguers to cut costs amid coronavirus-induced work stoppages.
Teams agreed to pay MiLB players $400 per week through May 31 when the 2020 season was put on hold in March.
A few current and former major leaguers couldn't help but applaud Price's act of kindness:
Thanks DP for continuing to be the awesome and generous man you are. One of my favorite teammates of all time @DAVIDprice24 https://t.co/YZCbeLDrKZ
