The Brooklyn Dodgers - now the Los Angeles Dodgers - won their first World Series in 1955 by defeating the New York Yankees in seven games.
Jackie Robinson, who broke baseball's color barrier on April 15, 1947, made several big plays during the series, including his iconic steal of home plate in Game 1.
