The Atlanta Braves announced Monday that Alex Anthopoulos has been promoted to president of baseball operations in addition to his title of general manager and was extended through the 2024 season.

Atlanta also announced the extension of manager Brian Snitker and his coaching staff through the 2021 campaign.

The 42-year-old Anthopoulos was originally hired by the Braves following the 2017 season. Atlanta has since made back-to-back trips to the postseason with consecutive NL East titles.

Meanwhile, the Braves have locked up top young players like Ronald Acuna Jr. and Ozzie Albies to long-term extensions by buying out their arbitration years.

Anthopoulos' front office also inked third baseman Josh Donaldson to a one-year contract for the 2019 season. While coming off an injury-plagued stretch, Donaldson enjoyed a resurgent campaign in Atlanta and helped lead the Braves back to the playoffs.

Despite losing Donaldson to the Minnesota Twins this offseason, Anthopoulos and Atlanta stayed busy by signing the likes of left-hander Cole Hamels, reliever Will Smith, and outfielder Marcell Ozuna.

Before being hired by the Braves, Anthopoulos was vice president of baseball operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2016-17 following a 13-year stint with the Toronto Blue Jays. He served as Blue Jays general manager from 2009 until his departure in 2015.

Snitker, 64, is entering his fourth full season as Braves manager and his 44th year in the organization. He's gone 318-292 since taking the manager job in 2016.

The rest of Snitker's staff includes Sal Fasano, Rick Kranitz, Marty Reed, Kevin Seitzer, Ron Washington, Walt Weiss, Eric Young Sr., and Jose Castro.
