It appears Rafael Devers will be rewarded for his monster campaign.

The Boston Red Sox are planning to offer their star third baseman a contract extension in the offseason, a source told Rob Bradford of WEEI.

Devers made $614,500 this season and isn't eligible for arbitration until 2021.

The 22-year-old broke out in his third major-league campaign. Devers entered Sunday's action leading the AL with 53 doubles while slashing .309/.360/.556 with 32 home runs in 154 contests.

No financial details or length of a potential extension have emerged. However, Red Sox owner John Henry said Friday his team wants to be under the first level of MLB's competitive balance threshold for the 2020 season.

The league's threshold is $208 million and Boston's payroll is currently around $238 million.
