Machado bets Dodgers fan 'we'll win a World Series before you do'
Manny Machado is confident the San Diego Padres will win the World Series before the Los Angeles Dodgers do, who acquired him last season for a playoff push.
The 26-year-old superstar is so convinced, in fact, that he's willing to bet the $300 million he'll earn over the next 10 seasons.
"I bet you my contract that we'll win a World Series before you guys do," Machado told a group of Dodgers fans who heckled him during Thursday's game.

The Dodgers have made the last two Fall Classics but lost to the Houston Astros in 2017 and the Boston Red Sox in 2018. Los Angeles (60-29) owns the best record in baseball heading into Friday's action, while the Padres (42-45) sit 17 games behind their division rivals for first in the National League West.
Machado put up an .825 OPS in 66 games for the Dodgers following the trade, and is slashing .273/.347/.505 with 20 home runs in 84 games in his first campaign in San Diego.
