Pirates' Marte, Erik Gonzalez placed on IL after on-field collision
The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed outfielder Starling Marte on the 10-day injured list with an abdominal wall contusion and infielder Erik Gonzalez on the 60-day IL with a left clavicle fracture, the team announced Saturday.
In a corresponding move, the Pirates promoted shortstop Cole Tucker and outfielder Bryan Reynolds from Tripe-A Indianapolis.
Marte and Gonzalez sustained their injuries after hitting each other in a scary collision on Friday when the Pirates were taking on the San Francisco Giants.
