The Toronto Blue Jays signed veteran outfielder Ben Revere to a minor-league contract on Saturday, the team announced.

Revere will report to extended spring training in Dunedin on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old was a member of the Blue Jays team that advanced to the American League Championship Series in 2015.

Revere played a critical role down the stretch for the AL East-winning club after being acquired by the Blue Jays from the Philadelphia Phillies at that year's trade deadline. He slashed .319/.354/.381 with a homer, nine doubles, and seven steals over 56 games, and then recorded 12 hits in the playoffs.

He last played in the majors two years ago with the Los Angeles Angels and spent most of 2018 with their Triple-A affiliate in Salt Lake City. The speedster joined the Texas Rangers on a minor-league deal in spring training but was released after hitting .273/.333/.318 in 13 Cactus League games.

The eight-year major-league veteran is a career .284/.319/.343 hitter with 892 hits, 400 runs, 198 RBIs, and 211 stolen bases across 857 games with five teams. Revere's best season came in 2014 when he led the National League with 184 hits and also stole a career-high 49 bases.
