Report: Tulowitzki gets full no-trade protection with Yankees

The New York Yankees signed shortstop Troy Tulowitzki on Tuesday to a one-year contract to fill the void left by injured infielder Didi Gregorius. If the team decides it wants to move Tulowitzki, though, it will apparently need his blessing.

The 34-year-old will reportedly have full no-trade protection along with the league-minimum salary of $555,000, according to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports.

Heyman adds that Tulowitkzki likely had leverage during negotiations because many teams expressed interest in his services following a recent workout.

The five-time All-Star was traded in 2015 from the Colorado Rockies to the Toronto Blue Jays, as he did not have a no-trade clause built into his contract.

New York's infield could get crowded upon Gregorius' eventual activation. The Yankees haven't removed themselves from the sweepstakes for free agent Manny Machado, though they committed to Tulowitzki at shortstop to start the 2019 season.
