The Los Angeles Dodgers will start left-hander Clayton Kershaw in Game 1 of the World Series against the Boston Red Sox, according to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com.
Speaking with reporters Monday, Kershaw said the importance of winning a World Series ring is "pretty critical."
Kershaw added that he should be ready to go Tuesday after closing out the Dodgers' NLCS Game 7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, throwing 15 pitches during a perfect ninth inning.
He'll pitch opposite fellow southpaw Chris Sale, who was announced as Boston's Game 1 starter Monday.
Manager Dave Roberts also announced that lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu will start Game 2 with rookie right-hander Walker Buehler following in Game 3.
The 30-year-old is 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA across 11 innings over three appearances during the 2018 postseason.
Kershaw has never pitched at Fenway Park during his career.
