Brewers' Jeffress after allowing deciding HR in Game 2: L.A. got 'lucky'

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jeremy Jeffress may have given up the game-winning home run to Justin Turner during the eighth inning of a 4-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, but it didn't shake his confidence.

Jeffress took the loss in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series after Turner drilled his eighth inning splitter into the left field stands to give his team the lead.

"He just got lucky," Jeffress said in post-game comments after being asked about the at-bat, according to MLB.com's Joe Trezza.

"It's a lucky hit, man," the All-Star reliever added. "It just is. It is."

Even though the boxscore might imply Jeffress was shaky (1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER) on Saturday, the 31-year-old said that wasn't the case.

In the seventh inning, Jeffress issued a bases-loaded walk to catcher Austin Barnes on a close 3-2 pitch, which followed a bloop single from Joc Pederson.

In the eighth, Chris Taylor got aboard thanks to a dribbler down the third base line before Turner's blast.

"Dude, honestly. You seen the hits. I ain't gotta tell nobody," Jeffress said. "If I say it's lucky, it's lucky. Everybody sees the hits."

Jeffress has had a rocky postseason thus far, with his ERA sitting at 7.71 in five games, but he didn't sound concerned when asked about his performances.

"I feel good," Jeffress said. "It's the nature of the game. I can't strike everybody out. I can't make everybody hit a ground ball. I am human. I feel great, but you have to make pitches. Better results will happen.

"It's my game. When the ball is in my hand, it's my game. I can do some tweaks here and there, but if I start to try to change stuff, it'll snowball, keep going downhill. There is nothing I need to change, honestly."
