The Bauer outage is over.

Cleveland Indians right-hander Trevor Bauer will be activated Friday to start against the Boston Red Sox, manager Terry Francona confirmed, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian.

He'll throw a couple of innings before handing the ball to Shane Bieber out of the bullpen.

Bauer will then be on target to make a road start Tuesday in Chicago against the White Sox. The team hopes he'll be able to make three starts in total before the postseason begins.

The 27-year-old threw off a mound against hitters Tuesday and said he felt great, according to Zack Meisel of The Athletic. He has been out of action for more than a month with a stress fracture in his right fibula.

Bauer is having the best season of his career, with a 2.22 ERA and 2.37 FIP in 166 innings across 25 starts. He's also struck out 214 hitters and allowed just eight home runs.
