Report: Astros, Hinch agree to contract extension
The defending World Series champions have locked up their skipper for the long haul.
The Houston Astros have reportedly agreed to a contract extension with manager A.J. Hinch, according to multiple reports. An official announcement of the deal is expected on Thursday. Terms of the extension aren't yet known.
Hinch has been managing this season on a one-year contract that contained a club option for 2019, according to Cot's Contracts.
Hinch was hired by the Astros before the 2015 season and the team has thrived under his leadership on the field. His young Astros surprisingly won the AL wild-card game in his first season as manager, and last October he led them to 101 wins and the franchise's first World Series championship. The Astros have yet to post a losing record in his four years at the helm.
The 44-year-old, who managed the Arizona Diamondbacks for parts of two seasons before joining Houston, owns a career regular-season record of 442-389.
