The Chris Archer deadline deal is complete, as the Pittsburgh Pirates' 2017 first-round draft pick Shane Baz is heading to the Tampa Bay Rays, the team announced Tuesday.

Baz, a right-handed pitcher, joins outfielder Austin Meadows and right-hander Tyler Glasnow as the full return for Archer.

The 19-year-old starter was the Pirates' No. 4 prospect. He has taken a step forward in his second year of rookie ball, increasing his strikeout rate from 7.2 per nine innings to 10.7. He has experienced some control issues but has managed to limit his walk rate this season.

Shortly after the Archer trade was announced, a source told Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic that the player to be named later going to Tampa was "significant" and "the kind of player who our fans already know his name."
