J.D. Martinez doesn't sound like he's going to leave New England anytime soon.

Martinez signed a five-year, $110-million contract with the Boston Red Sox in February, and the investment has paid off for both sides as the 30-year-old is in the midst of a career season and making a legitimate run at the triple crown. But his contract contains opt-out clauses after the 2019 and '20 seasons, potentially allowing him to cash in on this recent success in two years.

Speaking at the All-Star Game media day Monday, Martinez revealed he might be interested in negotiating a longer-term deal with the Red Sox that would essentially wipe remove and keep him in Boston for an even longer period.

"Absolutely," Martinez said, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com. "It obviously would have to be discussed later. I've liked my time there. It's been fun so far, so I don't see why not."

"I like the front office," he continued. "I like the manager. I like everything, the way it's run. I think it's trending in a really good way. I wouldn't mind staying there."

As a hitter, Martinez has almost no reason to leave Boston because he's raking at Fenway Park. He's hit 19 of his 29 homers there, a mark that leads all hitters, while his 1.184 OPS in 193 plate appearances at his home stadium ranks third in the league.

Martinez is earning $23.75 million this season and will draw the same salary in each of the next two campaigns assuming he doesn't opt out. He'd be paid $19.375 million over the final two years of his current deal, according to Cot's Contracts, while his 2019 opt-out contains a buyout that's worth $2.5 million.

This season, Martinez is hitting .328/.393/.644 with 29 homers, 23 doubles, and 80 RBIs. He leads MLB in both homers and RBIs, while ranking third in batting average.
