Trout DM'd congratulations after Manaea's no-no
Everything's coming up Manaea.
Not only did Sean Manaea no-hit the Boston Red Sox and get named the American League's co-Player of the Week, but he's getting direct messages from the best player in the game on Twitter.
"(Mike) Trout DM'd me and said congrats," Manaea told Jane Lee of MLB.com. "I thought that was pretty cool."
Manaea received hundreds of messages after becoming the first Oakland Athletics pitcher to hurl a no-no since Dallas Braden's perfect game in 2010.
"It's been crazy," he said. "Everybody is super excited and pouring on the love. It's awesome seeing all the support I have back home and all the places I've been to. It's pretty awesome hearing from all the people I've met throughout the years because of baseball.
"I'm just trying to soak it in and relive that moment, but there's going to come a time when I gotta start moving on. I'm not going to say I'm not going to watch it again, because I am most likely, but it's starting to get to a point where I got to focus on the Astros."
Manaea has jumped out to the best start of his young career, going 3-2 with a 1.23 ERA through his first five starts, including a 7 2/3-inning outing against Trout's Los Angeles Angels to open the season. His next start is slated for Friday against the defending champion Houston Astros.
