Jordan Zimmermann left Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Indians after being floored by a comebacker to the head on a line drive from Jason Kipnis. The Detroit Tigers starter walked off under his own power and was replaced by Daniel Norris.

Zimmermann was diagnosed with a right jaw contusion following the accident and is still being evaluated by Tigers medical staff, the team later announced. Following the game, Zimmermann passed concussion protocol and was scheduled to get X-rays, according to Jason Beck of MLB.com.

The 31-year-old Zimmermann had retired Francisco Lindor on a line drive in the previous at-bat to begin the game. In the subsequent plate appearance against Kipnis, seven pitches into Wednesday's contest, Zimmermann took a line drive to the head measured at 105.6mph exit velocity by Statcast.

Kipnis was ruled out after the ball bounced toward Miguel Cabrera, who finished the play at first base.
