Miggy leaves game with hip flexor tightness
Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was removed from Thursday's game against the Chicago White Sox with left hip flexor tightness, according to the team. Niko Goodrum replaced Cabrera defensively in the bottom of the second inning.
Following the game, Cabrera said he felt much better and would be re-evaluated on Saturday after the team's off day on Friday, according to Evan Woodberry of MLive.
Cabrera roped a single into center field in his first-inning at-bat, but fell awkwardly rounding first base. After briefly checking with trainers, Miggy stayed in the game and seemed to run fine while advancing to second base on a single from Nicholas Castellanos.
The 34-year-old then played the defensive half of the frame and was on deck when the Tigers recorded their final out. However, Goodrum came out to replace Cabrera for the defensive side of the frame.
Through his first five games of the year, Miggy has rebounded well from his worst season in the majors. He's 6-for-21 with one home run and three doubles to kick off the 2018 campaign.
