Goose Gossage, without Yankee camp invite, calls Brian Cashman a 'disgrace'

Goose Gossage isn't taking being shut out of New York Yankees spring training very kindly.

The Hall of Fame reliever, who's never been afraid to let his opinion be known, unleashed a profanity-laced rant on Monday toward general manager Brian Cashman after it was revealed that Gossage was not invited to this year's camp.

Gossage was a guest instructor for the Yankees the last two springs.

"He (Cashman) would've been gone 10 years ago if George (Steinbrenner) was still around," Gossage told Amara Grautski and Mike Mazzeo of the New York Daily News. "He'd have been gone when he jumped out of that f--king airplane. Do you think he's a good f--king baseball guy, really? He doesn't believe in f--king coaching."

Added Gossage, "With power, is that what happens to you, you turn into a f--king a--shole. Is that it? I don't know."

Gossage has found himself in spring training headlines during each of the last two Grapefruit League seasons. While at Yankees camp in 2016, he declared then-Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista to be "a f---ing disgrace to the game ... throwing his bat and acting like a fool," referring to Bautista's iconic bat flip during the previous postseason.

Last year, Gossage took aim at fellow Yankees legend Mariano Rivera, saying the all-time save leader's work as a one-inning closer paled in comparison to his own accomplishments.

"Don't even compare me here," he said of Rivera. "I’m not taking anything away from what Mo did, but don't compare me to him. It's insulting. It really is."

On Monday, however, Gossage sent every ounce of his vitriol toward Cashman, the four-time World Series winner as New York's GM.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be invited to camp by Mr. Steinbrenner," he told George A. King III of the New York Post. "But to look at Cashman every day, I can't look at him. He's a disgrace to the Yankees."
