Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, arguably one of the greatest baseball players of this generation, was not among the Baseball Writers Association of America's three finalists for the American League's MVP award.

It's the first time since Trout's debut season in 2011 that the superstar center fielder has failed to make the BBWAA's final three candidates. His omission snaps a stretch of five consecutive seasons of at least a top-two finish in voting, tying him with Barry Bonds for the longest such stretch.

Instead, it comes down to New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge, Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve, and Cleveland Indians infielder Jose Ramirez.

The winner of the AL prize will be announced Nov. 16.
