Big Papi's beard from 2013 World Series hits auction block
This is one auction where the bidding might get a little hairy.
For the second time in four years, David Ortiz's beard trimmings from the 2013 World Series are up for auction. According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, who obtained photographic evidence of the bizarre piece of memorabilia being auctioned off by Steiner Sports, the hair that was once on Big Papi's face and chin is contained in a glass orb engraved with the words "Championship Beard Ball" on its base.

A calling card of the 2013 World Series champion Red Sox was the team's facial hair. Ortiz - who was named that year's World Series MVP after hitting .688/.760/1.188 over the six-game series - was one of several members of that Red Sox club who had their championship beards shaved off for charity in the aftermath of their win.
The Ortiz beard fetched $10,877 at auction in 2013. It's unknown what the bidding will start at this time around.
