Bochy 'feeling better' after heart surgery
San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy is recovering and "feeling better" after recently undergoing heart surgery.
"The procedure went extremely well and I'm feeling better," the 62-year-old said in a statement released to reporters Friday, including Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News. "I'm grateful for the doctors and want to thank everyone who has reached out with well wishes."
The Giants skipper underwent a heart ablation procedure - his second of the year - to correct an irregular heartbeat. It was the third heart procedure Bochy has undergone in the past three seasons. He had two stents inserted in 2015 after blockages were discovered during a spring training physical.
Bochy's Giants were a disappointing 64-98 in 2017, the manager's 11th season with the club. His contract with the Giants runs through the 2019 season.
