Encarnacion to return from ankle sprain, bat 4th in Game 5

Ken Blaze / USA TODAY Sports

Edwin Encarnacion, the Cleveland Indians slugger who missed the past two games of the American League Division Series with an ankle sprain, is back in the club's lineup for Wednesday's winner-take-all Game 5 against the New York Yankees. He will bat fourth as the designated hitter.

Encarnacion exited Game 2 with the injury that also cost him the next two games at Yankee Stadium - both of which the Indians lost to even the series.

He played in 157 games in his first season with Cleveland, swatting 38 home runs while batting a strong .258/.377/.504.

Opposing Encarnacion on the mound is CC Sabathia. Encarnacion has had modest success against the southpaw, with a .273 average in 55 career at-bats. He's not, however, hit a long ball against Sabathia.
