Max Scherzer was ready to party.

The Washington Nationals became the first team to clinch a playoff spot, courtesy of their win against the Philadelphia Phillies Sunday, as well as the Miami Marlins' loss to the Atlanta Braves.

Scherzer, demonstrating true leadership, kicked off the champagne celebrations in the clubhouse by formally welcoming his teammates to the postseason.

Considering it's the third NL East title for Washington in the last four seasons, that's a lot of champagne.
