Watch: Gaffe from Cardinals' Rosenthal gifts Mets walk-off win

Mental errors are worse than physical errors, they say.
Exhibit A: Trevor Rosenthal.
With his St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets tied in the bottom of the ninth Thursday at Citi Field, the potential winning run standing on third, Rosenthal hesitated before scampering over to cover the bag on Jose Reyes' two-out grounder down the first-base line - a lapse that allowed the speedy veteran to beat him to the bag and nudge New York to a 3-2 victory with a walk-off infield single.
"He knows he has to get over there," Cardinals first baseman Matt Carpenter said of Rosenthal, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo and Jenifer Langosch. "I'm almost in the outfield, and I turn to look and throw, and he's nowhere close."
