Roberts says he blew up at Green after 'pointed' comments toward Wood
Friday's affair between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres got extremely heated, with the benches of both teams clearing after Dodgers manager Dave Roberts charged at Padres skipper Andy Green following a discussion with umpires.

It appears Green set Roberts off by making comments about Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood, who barked at the Padres' Jose Pirela during the game's first inning and apparently threatened to peg him for giving away pitch location.
"There were some things that Andy directed at our player, and at some point I took exception. So I thought it was excessive, and I got emotional," Roberts told reporters, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. "As an opposing manager, to talk about the situation and agree or disagree with how the umpires handle it - that's his opinion. But when you start pointed comments about a player, then I think I've got a problem with it."
Green apparently made his comments after crew chief Sam Holbrook and home-plate umpire Greg Gibson called a conference to discuss the altercation between Wood and Pirela.
Wood apparently told Pirela: "If you keep giving away location, I'm going to f---ing drill you," Gibson said, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
Wood later denied threatening Pirela.
"The No. 1 thing I took issue with was the threat on the mound from their pitcher to our player that he was going to drill him - with some expletives mixed in," Green said. "Colorfully telling a guy you're going to hit a guy on the field - it's unacceptable. And I don't think there's anyone on our club that's going to tolerate that."
When asked if Roberts would reach out to smooth things over with Green, he said, "No, I won't be reaching out to Andy."
The Dodgers and Padres meet again Saturday at 10:10 p.m. ET.
