Report: Mets to consider Colon reunion

Bartolo Colon's return to Queens hasn't completely been ruled out.

The New York Mets reportedly will consider the potential of signing the 44-year-old right-hander to a deal after he was designated for assignment by the Atlanta Braves on Thursday, sources told Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

Colon became a fan favorite during his three seasons in New York, but the club didn't have a spot for him in its rotation heading into this season and he opted to sign a one-year, $12.5-million deal with the Braves in November.

Things didn't go well for Colon in Atlanta, however. He went 2-8 with a 8.14 ERA and 1.78 WHIP over 13 starts and also spent time on the disabled list with an oblique injury.

With Robert Gsellman, Matt Harvey, Tommy Milone, Noah Syndergaard, and Zack Wheeler all on the DL, the team could use help in the rotation, but DiComo indicated that the Mets are highly skeptical that Colon would be useful.
