Dodgers being 'extra cautious' with Urias after latest doctor visit

The Los Angeles Dodgers aren't going to take any chances with the health of promising young left-hander Julio Urias.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts informed reporters, including Joshua Thornton of MLB.com, that the 20-year-old visited with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday and while the team is still gathering information, it will continue to be judicious with his health.

"I don't see or haven't heard of him picking up a baseball," Roberts explained Wednesday. "Like I said before with Julio, we're trying to be extra cautious, but I haven't heard anything definitive at all."

Urias was placed on the seven-day minor-league disabled list last week after experiencing soreness in his left shoulder.

An MRI performed on Urias on June 15 came back negative for any sort of structural damage, although it did reveal inflammation.

There is no timetable for Urias' return, reports Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times.

Before his demotion to the minor leagues in the middle of May, Urias posted a 0-2 record with a 5.40 ERA, striking out 11 in 23 1/3 innings.

The youngster impressed in his debut season last year, appearing in 18 games - 15 starts - posting a 3.74 ERA and 1.46 WHIP.
