Move over Ginny Baker, there's a non-fictional female pitcher in town, as Claire Eccles officially made her West Coast League debut for the Victoria HarbourCats on Wednesday night.
After signing a deal in mid-May, it was all but certain the left-handed knuckleballer would eventually make an appearance. The 19-year-old finally took the hill, logging two innings in relief against the Wenatchee AppleSox, becoming the first woman to ever pitch in the West Coast League.
