Ellsbury suffers concussion after wall-slamming catch

Jacoby Ellsbury got the out, but it came at a cost.
The New York Yankees outfielder opened Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals by going full tilt in his efforts to haul in Alcides Escobar's deep fly ball. Ellsbury caught the ball literally as he made contact with the outfield wall while running at full speed, and immediately crumpled to the ground following his amazing grab.
He appeared dazed and confused, and it was later revealed by the club that he suffered a concussion, as well as a neck sprain, on the play.
Although smelling salts allowed Ellsbury to finish the first inning in the field, he was removed from the game and replaced by Aaron Hicks to begin the second inning.
