Police are investigating after a woman inside Busch Stadium was grazed in the arm by a stray bullet during Tuesday night's game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers, reports Christine Byers of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

According to St. Louis police, the 34-year-old was in her seat when she felt a pain in her arm, took off her jacket, and saw an abrasion on her elbow. She was treated for minor injuries at the stadium, and workers at the first-aid station then contacted an off-duty police officer who was working security at the ballpark.

Moments before the woman was struck, police received a call about shots being fired around the 14th Street and Chouteau Avenue area - less than a mile from the stadium - and the bullet may have come from someone shooting into the air, police sources told Byers.

"This further amplifies our yearly message of encouraging 'Fun Without Guns,'" said a statement from the police department. "We know 'what goes up must come down,' and in this case, an innocent victim was struck. The department constantly stresses the importance of safety and responsible gun ownership."
