Bochy doesn't expect Bumgarner to need surgery
Off-day activities turned perilous for Madison Bumgarner when he suffered bruised ribs and a sprained left AC joint in his shoulder after being involved in a dirt bike accident Thursday.
The San Francisco Giants' ace was reportedly expected to miss six-to-eight weeks after being placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday, though Giants skipper Bruce Bochy doesn't believe Bumgarner will need to go under the knife.
"As far as I know, there's no surgery," Bochy told The Mercury News' Andrew Baggarly on Saturday. "I've never heard it discussed that it's needed or required."

While the exact details surrounding Bumgarner's accident are still unknown, the incident occurred while the Giants were in Denver, a day before they were to face the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
Through four starts this season, Bumgarner has been impeccable, crafting a 3.00 ERA in 27 innings, though he's still without a win. He's also held his own at the plate, slashing .286/.375/1.143 with two home runs in seven at-bats.
