Donaldson leaves game after reaggravating calf injury
Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson left Thursday's game in the sixth inning after hitting a one-out RBI double. He was limping and favoring his calf as he came into second base and called for the trainers.
Donaldson was batting cleanup as the team's designated hitter against the Baltimore Orioles. It was the second game in a row where he hasn't played in the field due to a lingering calf injury sustained in spring training.
In a slightly odd coincidence, Donaldson left last Sunday's game after tweaking his calf in the sixth inning as well.
Easily the Blue Jays best hitter at the time of his exit - two home runs, batting .310 - the loss rubs further salt into the scuffling team's wounds. He had the Blue Jays' only RBI of the game.
Severity of the injury and the expected length of his absence is unknown.
