Padres' Carter Capps: Makes spring training debut
Capps (elbow) took the mound in a game Monday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in March of 2016.
Analysis:
Capps wasn't always expected to be ready by Opening Day, but he now appears close to completing his recovery. Now that the 26-year-old has his first Cactus League action under his belt, he'll need to show that he has regained enough effectiveness to once again be a solid big-league reliever. If that turns out to be the case, Capps could have a shot at making a late run for San Diego's closer job.
