Diamondbacks' Yasmany Tomas: Gets in on-field work Monday
Tomas (oblique) was able to hit off a tee and do some outfield work Monday, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports.
Analysis:
Tomas' strained left oblique has prevented him from playing in Cactus League games since March 6, but manager Torey Lovullo indicated that the outfielder is progressing well and still has time to get ready for Opening Day. Since Tomas has been limited to 17 at-bats this spring -- going hitless in all of them -- the Diamondbacks could opt to have him play in minor league games within the next week, which would allow him to potentially lead off every inning in order to get in as many hacks as possible.
