Mets' Matt Harvey: Velocity up in Monday start
Harvey's fastball sat at 93-94 mph and topped out at 96 in his start against the Tigers on Monday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
Analysis:
The increased velocity on Harvey's fastball is a very encouraging sign, although that surge did not have an accompanying dominant performance Monday. The Tigers tagged Harvey for three runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings, but Mets manager Terry Collins was pleased that Harvey was repeating his delivery consistently and commanding his pitches well.
