Report: Cardinals, Pirates to relocate game in August to LLWS site
Every young baseball player aspires to some day make it to the majors. This season, it appears several budding athletes will have the chance to see some big leaguers up close.
The Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals are reportedly in talks to relocate their game on Aug. 20 - which was slated to be played in Pittsburgh at PNC Park - to a facility in Williamsport, Pa., which is the home of the Little League World Series, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports, citing sources.
The lone hurdle appears to be choosing a ballpark for the major-league contest, but according to a separate report from Dejan Kovacevic of DK Pittsburgh Sports, the game and move appear to be finalized.
The LLWS will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2017, with the tournament slated to begin on Aug. 18. In the 2016 edition, Maine-Endwell defeated Seoul, South Korea 2-1, becoming only the third team from New York state and the first since 1964 to win the title.
