The Washington Nationals have apparently set the 2017 salary for budding superstar Trea Turner.
Washington and Turner came to an agreement on a pre-arbitration salary of $554,900 for the upcoming season, according to a source of Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post.
Turner finished second in National League Rookie of the Year voting behind Corey Seager last season, hitting .342/.370/.567 with 13 home runs, 40 RBIs, and 33 stolen bases.
The sophomore big leaguer is expected to hit leadoff and play shortstop for the Nationals this season, but is also versatile enough to play the outfield, as well as second base.
Turner will be arbitration eligible for the first time in 2020, and will become a first-time free agent in 2023.
