Mets' Wuilmer Becerra: Not yet throwing
Becerra is at least a month away from throwing a baseball as he continues his recovery from last July's labrum surgery on his right shoulder, The New York Post reports.
Analysis:
Injuries have slowed the 22-year-old's development -- his career high so far in games played is 118 at Low-A in 2015 -- and if the shoulder surgery affects his arm strength going forward, he may have to shift to left field. Even so, the Mets are still hopeful Becerra will make a full recovery and start showing the in-game power his 6-foot-3, 225-pound frame suggests he should have. After being added to the 40-man roster in the offseason, he'll need to start making some real progress in 2017 if he wants to stay in the organization's future plans.
