Astros' Brad Peacock: Will start Grapefruit League opener
Peacock will start Houston's spring training opener against Detroit on Saturday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis:
The 29-year-old right-hander, who spent portions of four seasons with the Astros, spent most of last year at Triple-A Fresno where he had a 4.23 ERA in 22 appearances (21 starts) spanning 117 innings. He also logged 31.2 innings for the Astros, recording a 3.69 ERA over 10 appearances (five starts). Houston's starting rotation appears to be set given good health, making Peacock a long-shot to make the Opening Day roster. Because he's out of options, the Astros would have to risk exposing Peacock to waivers in order to place him back in Fresno.
