The Miami Marlins will honor former teammate Jose Fernandez by wearing a patch on their uniforms displaying his number.
Players and coaches will don the No. 16 - the only number Fernandez wore during his four-year career with the organization - throughout the entire 2017 campaign.

Fernandez, a two-time All-Star and Rookie of the Year winner, died shockingly in a September boating accident at the age of 24 after a promising, but short career as one of the game's best pitchers.
