Phillies release David Buchanan

The Philadelphia Phillies released right-hander David Buchanan, they announced Wednesday.
Buchanan, 27, made 15 starts for the Phillies in 2015, posting a 6.99 ERA across 74 2/3 innings of work, but hasn't appeared in the big leagues since. He spent 2016 with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, tossing 167 1/3 innings.
Over the course of his two seasons in the majors, the former sixth-round draft choice pitched 192 1/3 innings across 35 starts. He posted a 3.75 ERA in 2014.
