Gordon: Jose Fernandez said Cubs, Indians had best lineups
Jose Fernandez knew a thing or two about assessing quality teams.
Following the Chicago Cubs dramatic, pennant-clinching win Saturday, Miami Marlins second baseman and Fernandez's close friend Dee Gordon tweeted an interesting anecdote that the late ace revealed to him during the regular season.
It's crazy how the two best lineups Josey told me he ever faced are in the World Series...wow

Marlins administrative coach and video replay coordinator Pat Shine said Fernandez not only praised the two lineups - he predicted the title-starving clubs would meet in the World Series.
#JDF16. In Aug you told me #Cubs vs. #Indians in #WorldSeries. You nailed buddy!

Missing You. #JoseFernandez
The Cubs and Indians both had impressive offensive seasons, ranking in the top 10 in RBIs, runs scored, OBP, and slugging percentage. Fernandez, who was one of the most dominating young pitchers in baseball before his tragic death on Sept. 25, faced both teams a combined four times in his career, going 2-2 with a 5.63 ERA.
