Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Bounces back to capture pivotal win Tuesday
Syndergaard (14-9) held the Marlins to one run on five hits over six innings Tuesday. He didn't issue a walk while striking out eight in the victory.
Analysis:
Syndergaard, who was embarrassed by the bottom-dwelling Braves in his last start, delivered a much-needed quality outing Tuesday. The sophomore's bounce-back performance certainly was a confidence booster, but more importantly, it provided the Mets with a pivotal win during their hunt for October. Through five starts this month, Syndergaard owns a 2.83 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 28.2 innings. He's scheduled to take the mound for the season finale in Philadelphia on Sunday, a game that could decide the Mets' postseason fate.
