Harper to undergo X-rays after injuring thumb
Charles LeClaire / USA TODAY Sports
Bryce Harper will undergo X-rays Monday and is currently listed as day to day with a sore left thumb, Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker told reporters Sunday.
The outfielder left Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates shortly after sliding into third base.
After scoring on a double by Anthony Rendon, he was replaced by Chris Heisey.
After slugging his way to National League MVP honors last season, Harper slowed down considerably this year. In 144 games, Harper is slashing .244/.375/.444 with 24 home runs and 85 RBIs, though he's also walked 106 times.
