Bug flies into Indians' Carrasco's eye mid-pitch
The Lake Erie midges are back at Progressive Field.
Cleveland Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco lost his grip on a pitch he was delivering to Yulieski Gurriel during Wednesday's game at Progressive Field when an insect flew into his eye. As the bugs swarmed Carrasco at the pitcher's mound he was quickly tended to by training staff, who flushed the invasive midge out of his eye with help from a few Indians players.
This isn't the first time midges have invaded an Indians game. During a playoff game at what was then called Jacobs Field in 2007, the small flies swarmed New York Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain while he was pitching and caused quite a memorable delay.
Perhaps Carrasco should have thought to ask Chamberlain, his former Indians teammate, for advice on dealing with midges. All these years later, Chamberlain - who was released by the Indians in July - is apparently able to laugh about his plight, and offered some quick tips on dealing with the bugs to his old team.

The midges apparently distracted Carrasco enough, because the right-hander responded to the delay by allowing a single to Gurriel and then a two-run homer to Colby Rasmus.
